About

Like every other bookish kid, I grew up wanting to be a writer (yes, I know—how original). But somewhere along the way, practicality won out, and I found myself in accounting and consultancy, chasing a career that looked good on paper but felt completely wrong.

The closest I could get to my dream was teaching English. So, while I was still stuck in finance, I’d sneak away from my office to work with my old English teacher—the legendary Sir Tariq Aqil, who had once dubbed me Harry Potter in his class. I became his teaching assistant, and something in me just clicked. Teaching felt right in a way that numbers never did. Eventually, I made the switch, leaving behind spreadsheets for literature, analysis, and messy, wonderful classroom discussions.

Since then, I’ve been a teacher, an academic coordinator, and now a guidance counselor. I’ve worked with students at different stages of their academic journeys, helping them not just with college applications and career choices but also with the bigger questions: What does education really mean? Who gets access to it? And what happens when the system fails those who need it most?

Beyond my work in education, I write about learning, power structures, and the myths we’re taught to believe. I believe in fostering critical thinking, creating spaces where students and educators can have real conversations, and challenging the status quo.

This website is a reflection of that work—a space for essays, ideas, and resources. If any of this resonates with you, stick around. Let’s learn, question, and build something better together.
